We are thrilled to share that Rosalva has been awarded the prestigious Society for the Scientific Study of Religion (SSSR) Graduate Student Research Grant, a highly competitive award that provides up to $3,000 to support exceptional graduate research in the social scientific study of religion. This grant recognizes projects demonstrating strong theoretical grounding, methodological rigor, and meaningful contributions to the field.

Her study, “Religiosity, Culture, and Healthy Aging Among Latin Americans in California,” explores how religiosity may serve as a culturally embedded protective factor that supports healthy aging—promoting lifestyle engagement, adaptive coping, social connection, and greater health-related self-efficacy among older Latin American adults. Guided by Betancourt’s Integrative Model of Culture, her project addresses a critically important and underserved population, and we are incredibly proud of the impact her work will make.

Congratulations, Rosalva, on this well-deserved recognition!
